Footpath petitionWe the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to force the Ramblers Association to pay for footpath up keep. The Ramblers Association are always campaigning to increase access on private land. It is about time they paid towards the up keep of these paths. Many landowners have to pay to keep the paths in decent condition and this includes picking up litter and repairing damage caused by the walkers. All this along with the threat of legal action should an accident occur on the land makes landowners less likely to allow access, either legally or otherwise.

sorry mate thats one petition i wont sign. even though i have a foot path going over my garden, the moment they start doing the clearing up is the moment they start to rule what you do, they will say, well hangon, we want that land to have bla bla bla and next second you have a JCB giving up your field to install a bloody wheelchair ramp. all landowners have to maintain the footpath if they have rights of way going over their land. id sign if it said, give ramblers no bloody rights what so ever. and drill the countryside code into their thick heads and explain that the right to roam doesnt mean anywhere. and countryside means, mud, nettles, brambles and getting lost is all part of the fun. and if they did maintain the footpaths, i wouldnt be able to shout at them. remember we are dealing with thickys here.

that is true, but they should at least pay into some sort of damn scheme to help the landowners.

we don;t have much in the way of rambler's rights here in ireland. what happens here is a few unscupulous dicks sued farmers for twisting an ankle on their land or something equally dumb, farmers responded by closing off land and the insurance companies refused to insure farmers who didn't. Its a bad bad thing
I love the thought of stormy out with a gun "gerrofffffffffffff ya barstards"
