today i thopught id sort out my pots, i seem to have a few hundred, all now in the right order of sizes (wont stay like that for long)
all my house plants were in desperate need of new earth and new pots, i knew this because they got dry very quickley (a very good way of finding out if they are pot bound). Trouble is its always the way after you re pot them to discover of course they dont not fit where they fitted before.
i have now noticed my window sills are smaller than i thought. ;D
the cuttings i took off last years geraniums are doing well, all 78 of them.
i have also grown (excuse the spelling) cyclimum (told yo the spelling was bad) a verity of mint, basil (which according to some experts wont take from a cutting), bay trees, and a few others.
so that means less money to spend in the garden centre, yes we spend quite a wee bit. some people like clothes shopping, i however like garden centres. but then my garden is about 1 acre.
where we have removed the hedge, yes that one, we have decided not to replace it, but to have wild flowers there instead, its quite a large wide area in front of the chicken run, and as i seem to have collected a rather large amounts of wild flower seeds, i thought, i would put them there, wel they have two chances.
our tomato plants are doing well in the green house now, we are lucky to have a heated green house, which dad rigged up years ago, In the old days when nan was alive, there was an old woodburner in the green house. but that had to be removed due to damage, then dad rigged up with the fire bricks a means of keeping your plants toasty even in the coldest winter, trouble is, our green house is falling apart some what and we have many panes missing, oh and we have mice.
so my demijohn bottle catcher is now up and running, basically you put a large rimmed bottle on its side so its titled at a vast angle, stick some (they like home made bread) just inside the rim, and the mice slide down and get stuck.
then when you catch them, you can do as you will, we used to feed the owls with them ;D
