I have come to the conclusion that most eco terroist facists live in cities or towns with decent transport links! Filling in various online surveys has brought me to that conclusion.
"Don't use your car you don't NEED it" Erm actually unless I am going to never leave the village..yes we do. If Mike is ever going to get to work...yes we do!
"you shouldn't use open fires, gas is much better" Yah right we have a choice in the village, Oil, solid fuel or electric! My wood is free (and carbon neutral and from a managed woodland)
"You should buy everything from the village shops" Oh except the butcher is dodgy, the little shops over charge (£1.20 for a loaf of sunblest), the "fresh" veg is iffy and we do not have a chemist (hardly have a bloody Doctor).
"lift share to work" that's fine if you all start work at the same time at the same place. Mike works in Sheepwash, no one else travels that way at that time of the morning.
Are these people just dumb or something?
I have challenged some to come to stay for a week without using private transport to get around, they have to get to a hospital appointment in Barnstaple at 3.30pm, get to the local farm shop, go to the local health shop in Holsworthy and get to Mikes place of work . (btw cannot be done, apart from Holsworthy on a pushbike). Strangely enough, no one has taken up the challenge.

yes they are dumb, but like anything its the good people they like to punish, take the new law that our council is bringing in about having to have a licence to have bonfires, and barbeques lol. but then what to do with all the stuff you cant burn, you put it in the bin and then get charged again because your bin is over flowing, so what do people do, they dump it illegally. most green arseholes dont live in the countryside, they are townies, who havent seen mud in their life, and most of them wouldnt survive here. they also have something called money, and no garden. oh i did that mate, asked someone to stay here and work without a car, i explained that my animals would suffer if i couldnt get their food, they said, well why dont you grow your own and then use a tractor to harvest it? ? no brains my dear, no brains.

It is harder living in the country, and often NOT the rural idyll that the more urban-based would believe. Dependence on personal transport (rather than public) is a necessity.
But would you swap??? Nope, neither would I ;D

I live in a town,Plymouth, i have also lived on the edge of the country(sussex) when i was young and loved the freedom. As long as i respected fields and animals i could go anywhere i wanted, pick wild fruit, mushrooms and fish. Most of my working life (over 30yrs has been spent at sea). I fully agree with you about these "greenies" who live in towns.
