Basic cheese and potato pie is...
Mashed spud (I tend to freeze leftover mash and use that once there is enough for a meal) Cheese.
Mix and bake until the top is golden brown.
BUT you can add to this. some fish, either in the form of fresh or chopped up fish fingers or a tin of tuna, with some parsley or dill and a handful of frozen peas and sweetcorn.
some onion and garlic and use it for a topping for cottage pie
some chopped ham or chopped rashers of bacon
OR it can be used as a base for potato cakes (add an egg and a pinch of nutmeg)
Don't chuck leftover mash...freeze it!
