a few happy visits
our swallows came home on friday, for the last 50 or so years or maybe even longer, we have had swallows nesting in our shed.
i heard the cuckoo today, hurray its telling me spring is set in.
we have a varity of nesting birds as well, there is a very tame robin nesting in the funnel in the garage, so we have had to buy a new funnel.
there are a pair of song thrushes in the top of fur tree outside my window and below them are a pair of chaffinches.
grey wagtails have a nest in some ivy just under the water fall, (its a tunnel that goes under the road.
we have two wrens nesting, one is in the old pig stye and the other is in the goose shed.
we also have blue tits nesting in an old iron pipe, again they are always in there, for the last 5 years, its a very safe place for a nest.
there is also another chaffinch nest in a large shrub by our garden pond.
oh and last one, there are three pairs of starlings in the roof of our building. again every year they nest there.
i think thats about it...oh no sorry
two pairs of moorhens, one pair by the top pond the other down the river.
goldcrests are around by the field, so i assume they are nesting somewhere there and also we have a pair of long tailed tits, which i love to see.
bit of sad news as well, we saw the kingfisher on a number of occasions, but they silly sod must have colladed with the window as we found it dead under the sill in the morning, i havent seen one since.
so i really hope another moves in.
