Not one of these "easi-yo" things but a proper electric yoghurt maker. I got it from Lakeland Ltd for £20. www.lakeland.co.ukIt's simple to use, you need 2 tsp of plain natural live yoghurt, now I should imagine that bog standard yoghurt culture would do. I think you can get that from ascot smallholding. Then milk. I used UHT at room temperature, or you could use pasturised milk which has been heated and cooled or unpasturised goat or sheeps milk which has been boiled and simmered for 7 mins then cooled. It takes 8 hr so if you put it on at night, its ready the next morning and it keeps for 5 days. tips - It only makes natural plain youghurt, but you can add flavourings after. The kids mixed strawberry jam in theirs.
- keep 2 tsp of the yoghurt you made to use as culture for the next batch
- Buy a second bowl, then you have one on the go and one in the fridge
- Whole milk makes a nice thick youghurt whereas semi-skim and skimmed makes a thinner one (duh)

Not bad considering I am using UHT milk, the kids scoff it down faster than I can make it!
