Ooh! Loving this forum! Anyone else here spin? I have an Ashford wheel but also spin with a drop spindle and weave on a warp weighted Viking age loom. I`m lucky enough to have a sheep (called Sheep) whom we shear once a year and who gives us three hundredweight bags of the most amazing, richly coloured wool, so I spin this in the grease and then weave with it.

I did have a spinning wheel, had to sell it when we lived in the caravan (lack of space) then the day the new owners picked it up we got the bloody house. I will get another though, the Ashfords are lovely wheels and they haven't changed over the years!

My Mother's the spinner in our family. I'm sure she only taught my daughter to knit so she'd somewhere to dump all that yarn!
I don't know what wheel she has but it has a carving of a mouse on it (and on her stool too!). Some makers mark I believe.
