You get the idea.
We decided that to start off the veggies we going to grow some tatties! According to the neighbours the tatties grow really well here, but many residents don't bother anymore. Too much work possible for many of them.
So psychonaut eagerly double dug a plot over today. We have dug in some compost and will fork it over a few more times over the coming week or so.
Psychonauts plan is to get some organic tatties from the supermarket...then let em seed. He said that is what his dad did. I can't remember what my grandparents did, they stopped growing tatters when I was very young...I just remember digging them up for years after!
Any other tips?

[sifreynir]Any other tips?[/quote] Yeah. for space saving, why not try the following? Nip doon to Poundstretcher and get a couple of those plastic dustbins for about £8.00 each. Then get a soldering iron or screwdriver and burn/bore some holes starting about 3/4 inches up the bin for drainage. Then add some compost about 3 inches deep and place your rooteds seed tatties on top and cover with about an inch or two of compost. Then when the sprouts come through, add another layer and some more seed tatties if you want. Keep this going until the dustbin is full and then allow the tatties to grow into leaf and flower and go all yellow and wither etc. (OK about Aug/Sept) Then get Psychonaut to kick the dustbins over, and LO! You'll have a nice harvest of loverly spuds. You can do the same with strong bin liners and even old car tyres piled one on top of the other. It saves all that backbreaking work earthing up the drills etc. Hope this helps. Mick. (who has spuds sprouting up his compost bins) ;D

well the idea was to use the taters to break the soil up a bit. Besides....Psychonaut enjoyed it...really he did. He was pestering me all day to get started on it!
NO TRUTHFULLY. I had no whip...or ball and chain confining him to the garden. It was ALL HIM!
