I've always been a fan of the ol' Painted Lady myself...

My Mother's the spinner in our family. I'm sure she only taught my daughter to knit so she'd somewhere to dump all that yarn!
I don't know what wheel she has but it has a carving of a mouse on it (and on her stool too!). Some makers mark I believe.

Hi skadi,
I've spent many years (and far too many beer tokens) collecting medevil recipies and trying to recreate them. Look forward to sharing some tips and discoveries with you!

Actually, Mick, spiced mead is something of a speciality Trelech's only about 15 mins away too. So what have you done to your walnut tree, Stormy??

Hello everyone. It must be nearly Spring 'cos Stormy's woken up and threatened me with violence if I didn't put in an appearance here. Nice to know nothing changes. I'm Dazza, live in Carmarthenshire on a 6 acre smallholding in the middle of nowhere. We grow lots of veg and fruit, although we're still in the hungry gap here at the moment. Living off the last jar of Mrs Dazza's delicious "Dead Man's Scrumpny" (so called as a key ingredient is 1lb of crab apples from the tree in the local village graveyard...could one of the vegetarian community tell me if that still counts ;D). We make wine, mead, beer, jams, pickles, teas, medicines, etc. If we can grow it we'll have fun trying to process it into something. All in all we're "Living Good Life". (Doesn't that sound a bit like "All your base are belong to us"? Sorry - Geek joke!). Look forward to getting to know you all. - Dazza.

Nah. They never sit still long enough to get them in the breach and when you do their muzzle velocity is tragic.

No, for me, traps and snares are a last resort method in a survival situation. They're difficult to get right and this causes unnecessary harm and suffering to prey. If you're gonna hunt, kill quick and well. A well placed .22 round is still the best.

I've been busy travelling around the world and planting brassicas (and building scarecrows). Off again tomorrow to Oz. Wonder if it'll be easier to water the roots from down there...?
