last week we were hurding sheep, today it was piggies.
Mum came in laughing, saying that the neighbour had been chased down the field by a pig, a pig? here, but no one has pigs around here.
So up the field i went to see about this so called pig, in my neighbours field.
and there it was the cutest little black and white snuffer, who ran towards me. Ok so to someone who doesnt know pigs, i suppose it could have been a tad scary, but not me.
i walked towards it, and it stopped on its heels and legged it off down the field to near my house.
i cornered it, and bent down and gave it a scratch, that was it, i had earned its trust.
phil went off to get some bread. we hadnt the faintest idea where it came from, so mum was making the phone calls all over the parish.
trouble was i didnt want to leave it, the field isnt the best field in the world, thats why the sheep did their great escape.
The other reason was, it was getting dark and in truth if it had gone we would have no idea where it had gone. so with a large loaf of bread and some patience we managed to get piggy the pig to follow us back to our house, and gently encoraged it to go into wumpy and dumpys old duck run.
piggy was quite happy with soggy bread and get well comfortable.
Trouble is every time i tried to leave it squeaked, so it looked like i was going to stay. so i sat down on the straw, and piggy snuffled around me.
mum had found out where it had come from, right over the other side of the wood, where THAT family comes from, every village have a THAT family. That family have a bad reputation, that family are always being visted by the police.
that family arent that bad but i wouldnt want to cross them.
anyway THAT family came down in a truck to pick up piggy, must to the diserpointment of me.
piggy didnt like them, you could see piggy wanted to stay, there was a women and a man and piggy didnt want the man to catch her, so she screamed, piggys are very loud when they get going, when they are upset they tend to scream.
he wasnt have any luck trying to get piggy, so in the end i shoved him outside and slipped a rope around piggys neck, she didnt seem bothered by me, but she was bothered by the man.
in truth if he had left me too it, piggy wouldnt have put up a fuss, with a bit more bread she would have followed me.
but he interfered and piggy legged it with me attached to the lead, lucky i know how to handle bolting beasts, lol.
we managed somehow to get her back to the van.
i was every so up set, the daft thing is they actually offered for us to keep the pig, but we really havent got any tight fields and she would have trashed the chicken run.
But mums now thinking of getting the paddock fences, so we might, get piggy back soon. i do hope so, i fell in love with piggy within two hours.
i suppose also i miss not having beasts around me, i miss the goats in the field and the piggys, even though the pigs were bred for meat.
So THAT family may come in useful. That family dont mind us i suppose, they just hate everyone else
