what are your views on this.
i have had working dogs all my life, and i have seen the affects brambles have on dogs tails. since the ban came in, some vets just wont do it.
people may say its un natural, but then enjoy watching crufts, and dress their pets up in clothes.
sheep have their tails removed, we de- horn some animals because of health problems, so why do people have just a problem with docking tails.
feel free to debate, shout and throttle each other ;D

Well put Stormy. Some people say that its wrong to dock a dog's tail. Fair enough if you have a pet dog. But if you have a working dog, then the dog's tail can get easily damaged. It's the same with dewclaws. But I think its the nanny mentality. Everyone and their wife, seem to think they have some god given right to dictate to the rest of us. I mean to say. A Boxer, Rottweiller, Doberman or bulldog, looks about as stupid with a tail as a German Shepherd would without one. Mick.

I've read some horror stories about working dogs with tails - surely it would be a simple matter for a working-dog owner to get a permit that they could show when ordering a puppy. And a lot of the traditionally docked breeds to have truly ugly tails. Perhaps they could find a more humane way to do it - surgery under anaesthetic when the dog is old enough and being neutered.
On the other hand maybe they should stop worrying about docking and ban idiots from owning dogs. Some morons give a dog a lifetime of pain from neglect and abuse.
